The returning members, parents, and sponsors would all like to thank you for attending the first meeting of the year, we hope we left an impression! So, recap of the meeting: basically, Sean Topping, club President, contributed most of his time explaining the ins-and-outs of the club and competitions. Needless to say, we covered much more this year than any previous years, and for good reason: we had over 30 new members present. We hope this change does not affect your summer schedules! Thanks! It's that time of the year, folks! We're holding the 3rd Annual vEx Camps this summer! As hopefully a handful of you know, our vEx camps are week-long events where middle-school kids can come to experience the world of engineering and robotics. We'll be having the same format as last year: two 1-week sessions of 5 hours a day in the middle of summer, each week followed by a closing showdown competition on Friday night! Parents are of course invited to attend the final game as well. '08 FRC Season in a Nutshell http://www.project1726.org/2008web/pages/posts/08-frc-season-in-a-nutshell13 I know this update is a little late. We've been tired from the regionals and whatnot (or that's the excuse, anyway). We've got some regional recaps in this update, as well as some little tidbits of information regarding the National Underwater Robot Challenge, several future meetings, etc. So, without further ado, feel free to "Read More..." 1726 Gearing for AZ http://www.project1726.org/2008web/pages/posts/1726-gearing-for-az12 For the last 6 weeks, the NERDS have been working diligently on the latest addition to their growing list of FIRST robots. This year's creation is capable of acquiring and efficiently hurdling the 40" diameter "trackball" for this year's game, Overdrive. In addition to its hurdling capabilities, the robot can easily knock off a trackball in both tele-op and hybrid mode, as well as place the ball on the overpass for bonus points! The NERDS will be competing at the Phoenix, AZ regional on March 6 - 8. See you there, teams! 2008 FRC Kickoff http://www.project1726.org/2008web/pages/posts/2008-frc-kickoff7 As almost everyone has heard, the new FIRST Robotics Competition game is here! You can learn about the new challenge, "Overdrive", here! Also, a game animation is available on NASA's website here. Several members attended the local Phoenix webcast event before heading back and meeting on Fort with the rest of the team...
