Team 1726 Sponsors
Every year the N.E.R.D.S. spend an incredible amount of money on tools, robots, competitions entrance fees, and travel costs. Our sponsors are what keep us going, and it teaches the students to interact with companies and learn about the business side of fundraising. For example, students participate in presentations, public events, and interviews. Also, this gives the sponsors an opportunity to show the community what they are involved in. This includes being advertised on Team 1726's t-shirts, robot, website and banner. Sponsors are also invited to see the team's meetings, especially during the build season. This way the sponsors know that they are contributing to a worthy cause where they can witness the impact that their support has on the students and the club.
One of Team 1726's main sponsors is the Intelligence Electronic Warfare Test Directorate (IEWTD). They provide the students with working facilities, equipment, and engineers to assist them. Other sponsors that the club has provide the team with funds, parts, or other donated goods. The Science Foundation Arizona, for example, provided the team with a grant that allowed the team to pay for registration and travel to its first regional competition. Overall, sponsors are an important part of our team, as they supply the resources that allow our organization to grow and have a strong impact on our community.
Thank you to our sponsors!

Our Current Sponsors
Intelligence Electronic Warfare Test Directorate
The Intelligence Electronie Warfare Test Directorate (IEWTD) of Fort Huachuca, AZ provides the team with several vital assets, including facilities and equipment used for the team's construction projects. IEWTD also provides engineer mentor support, which allows the students to gain real-world experience working with professionals in the engineering community. The IEWTD has sponsored the team since its rookie season in 2005.
Cox Communications
Cox Communications generously donated a $10,000 grant to Team 1726 (via CRA) this year. These funds will be used to register for the regional competitions, purchase robot parts, and pay for some travel during the competition season. This donation has been incredibly helpful to the team by allowing us to compete, and our members are glad to have such a strong partnership with an organization known for its community involvement.
Best Buy
Supplying a $6,121 grant to the CRA, Best Buy was able to contribute a generous amount of money towards many robotics programs in Cochise County. For the N.E.R.D.S., this donation will help supply the team with vital parts during the build season, as well as covering some costs of travel. Local FLL teams also benefited from this donation, as many received funds to fully pay for their kit expenses. We gratefully thank Best Buy for their contribution!
AFCEA
In need of funds to participate in the 2009 Championship Event, AFCEA graciously donated $5,000 to the N.E.R.D.S. after winning the Arizona Regional. Sponsoring several community and academic activities, AFCEA is a regular contributor to technical programs throughout Sierra Vista. We thank them greatly for contributing to the team during our time of need, and we hope to maintain a strong partnership with them in the future!
Arizona Mechanical Insulation
Arizona Mechanical Insulation (AMI), a business owned by a parent of a robotics student has supplied the team with $2,500 in funds to cover travel expenses to events and venues for both regional competitions this year. This is their third year sponsoring the team, and we are very grateful for their continued support.
Fort Huachuca Thrift Store
The Fort Huachuca Thrift Store donated $1,000 to Team 1726 this year. This is their very first contribution to the team, forming a strong partnership between our organizations. The N.E.R.D.S are thankful to have another helpful new sponsor this year!
CRA
The Cochise Robotics Association was created in 2007 and is a valuable source of funding to the team. As a 501(c)3 organization, sponsors are able to give tax-deductable donations to the club indirectly. The CRA also allows the club to quickly order parts that might take a few extra days if processed through the school.
AZ FIRST
Arizona FIRST, a charitable organization dedicated to providing assistance to FIRST teams all around Arizona donated $800 to the team this year, which will help to cover travel expenses. Some funds will also be saved for the coming years to support the club well into the future.
Northrop Grumman
In its very first year sponsoring the team, Northrop Grumman joined many new sponsors by donating $600 to the N.E.R.D.S. for the 2008-2009 school year. After having representatives from their company visit the build site, Northrop Grumman was more than willing to support Team 1726's mission.
Weatherguard Metal Construction
Weatherguard Metal has sponsored the team this year for $500. They have also assisted the team in the past, donating additional funds in the team's rookie year and 3rd year. Thanks for you continued support, Weatherguard!
AZ Taxpayers
Arizona tax credit makes up a large chunk of the team's monetary resources. Without the incredible support of Arizona taxpayers, the club would simply cease to exist. Thanks to all of the individuals who donated via tax credit!
Unfortunately, Congress is suggesting cutting Arizona tax credit for the entire year of 2010. This could inherently ruin the club, so we encourage everyone to write to your local legislators and ask for the continuation of tax credit in the 2010 year and beyond!
