Season Robot Overview

Currently, the 2007-2008 season is going well for the N.E.R.D.S.  Professionalism appears to be the theme for this year's robots, as each one is "sporty" and cosmetically appealing.  This year, our robots reflect on our team's growing abilities to not only construct and design intricate machines, but our attention to detail.  We believe that appearance is one of the biggest factors in making a great FIRST impression, and our bots definitely show for it!

 

This Season's Robots

The N.E.R.D.S. have built 2 robots this season, with a 3rd one currently under construction.  The current completed lineup for this year includes a promotional T-Shirt shooting robot, as well as our FTC competition robot.  Here are some brief overviews of our robots for this season.

2008 FIRST Tech Challenge Robot: Open Source

This robot was built to participate in the 2008 FIRST Tech Challenge game Quad Quandary.  It sports an impressive, robust design, and is capable of nearly any kind of game play.  It is a fast scoring machine, and has served to inspire other FTC teams around the country.  Read more about it here.

 

Promotional T-Shirt Shooting Robot

A remake of a previous version, this T-shirt shooting robot is an excellent spectacle at public events.  Sporting a mecanum drive train (complete with suspension) and a pneumatic air cannon capable of shooting a rolled up T-shirt over 150 feet, this robot is definitely an impressive addition to our ever growing roster of machines.  Read more about it here.
