2006-2007 Robots

Season Robot Overview

The 2006-2007 season was an exciting time for the team.  The robots that were created reflected the team's growing knowledge and expertise in the engineering process, as is evidenced by the robots' functionality for this season.  Even though they weren't the best to look at, each robot accomplished a certain goal through clever design and creative thinking.  As the team grows in knowledge and in spirit, we can guarantee that our team is improving its skills in engineering!

This Season's Robots

During this season, the N.E.R.D.S. built 3 machines for various competitions.  This season's lineup includes our FIRST Vex Challenge Robot (which excelled in performance), Ringo (our FIRST Robotics Competition robot), and Tacky Sponge, which won the National Underwater Robotics Challenge for both the High School and Overall Divisions.  Below are brief overview of our robots for this season.

2007 FIRST Robotics Competition Robot: Ringo

Ringo was our second FIRST Robotics Competition Robot.  It was designed around the game objective for the 2007 FIRST Robotics Competition, Rack n' Roll.  Its design is strong and industrial.  Functionality is a key feature of this robot's design, and its performance has definitely shown for it.  Scoring quickly and effectively, this robot greatly represents the N.E.R.D.S. name.  Read more about it here.

2007 FVC Robot: Unnamed

Built for the 2007 FIRST Vex Challenge game, Hangin-A-Round, this robot performed confidently at the Arizona Regional.  Holding the title of Regional Champion, this robot greatly defines the competitiveness and quality of Team 1726.  Read more about it here.

2007 NURC Robot: Tacky Sponge

Although it was our first year in this competition, the N.E.R.D.S. performed extraordinarily well at the 2007 National Underwater Robotics Challenge thanks to the team's robot, Tacky Sponge.  It sports many simple yet functional features which allowed it to exceed in competition, holding the title of National Champion.  Read more about it here.
