It's that time of the year, folks!
We're holding the 3rd Annual vEx Camps this summer! As hopefully a handful of you know, our vEx camps are week-long events where middle-school kids can come to experience the world of engineering and robotics. We'll be having the same format as last year: two 1-week sessions of 5 hours a day in the middle of summer, each week followed by a closing showdown competition on Friday night! Parents are of course invited to attend the final game as well.
Camp Flyers are out (link). We'll be visiting Apache at 1:30pm on May 13th with robots and information on our club and the vEx camps. Here's the basic information so far:
- Sessions are June 9th - 13th and June 23rd - 27th (subject to change) <-Fixed!
- Times are 10:00am to 3:00pm weekdays, with a competition at 6:30pm on Friday
- Entry fees are $150 for 1 camp per kid, $250 for both camps per kid
- Maximum of 18 participants per camp on a first-come first-served basis!
- Snacks to be provided, lunch is not (ie please bring sac lunch). We may buy pizza on one or two occasions, we'll let you know ahead of time
- Release forms will be revised and posted when finished. These need to be turned in before the camp dates.
The first session, as in previous years, will be dedicated to basic mechanical concepts and the design process. Session 2 will go into depth on the logic side, focusing on programming and sensor manipulation. The games will reflect the sessions so participants make the best use of their newfould knowledge.
