New hex bugs have arrived just in time for the holiday season! The N.E.R.D.S. will start selling these robotic creatures shortly. The money raised will go towards helping the team pay for the next 5 foot 120lb robot for our next competition. The team will start this robot on January 11 at IEWTD, and be finished by Febuary 23.
The new bugs are a thrill, offering a diverse array to choose from. Many people have already purchased the original Hex bug the N.E.R.D.S. choose to sell as a trial run. The response was better than anticipated and the team decided to broden the market and sell the other types of bugs that Hex offers.
The original Hex bug is the first bug the team sold. The bug will walk around bumping in to various objects. The bug will then sense the object with its "feelers" and back up out of the way. This hex bug also has a small microphone on it. Whenever it picks up a loud noise the bug will get "scared" and change direction.
The Ant Hex bug is a speedy little creature. With sensors on the front and back, along with a high speed gear ratio; this bug will zip accross the room at amazingly fast speeds. Every time one of the two pressure sensors is activated the bug will imidiatly change direction.
The Crab hex bug is designed with yet another unique feature. The bug will roam around searching for a place to sleep. Whenever it finds a nice shady spot it will stop and take a nap. However, a loud noise can wake the slumbering creature and scare it from its spot. It will then once again search for a new place to hopefuly catch som z's.
The Inch Worm Hex bug is different from all of the others in a very different way. This bug comes with a small remote controll. You are able to completely control the bug making it explore to the extent of your imagination. The controller and bug come with two different frequencies so you are able to run two bugs at the same time. With this bug you can go forward, backward, and make it spin to change direction.
The newest addition to the Hex bug family is the amazingly compact Nano. This bug uses small vibrations to run around in random patterns. In addition it has the inate ability to pick itself up after it has been knocked over. This zippy little smart creature is the smallest by far of all of the bugs and provides great amounts of non-stop entertainment.
These new Hex bugs will be available to the local public soon. Prices for these creatures are as follows: Original $10, Ant $10, Nano $10, Crab $12, Inch Worm $15. Keep in mind that these would make great holiday gifts for all ages. I mean, who wouldn't want a robot of their very own?
